Jaws

Just returned from Da Islands and on Sunday, March 2, Christopher and I were able to do something I never thought I'd get to do...see JAWS in action!! We hiked our way down the muddy road at Pe'ahi and this is what we filmed as we shared what is likely a once-in-a-lifetime experience!!

High flows on the North Fork of the Payette River, Idaho
I'd really like to hear the rapids, instead of this boring music
Those class 5s look like 3s
Hello my friend im from scotland,my surname is mcgraw, and the name john is very prolific in my family, one question for you is the initial e for Eddie?
Hello Brian - the E is for Edwin.
@@bobmcgraw thanks from Glasgow
@@bobmcgraw do you have ancestry in Scotland or Ireland?
You did a good job of capturing the feel of the Grand Canyon
Nice! We were there March 19th to April 8th ... super good levels and we didn't get that 20k bump until just past Lava. Looks like you had full juice for it!
Nice run! good lines
Great video, especially without music, just the sound of that wild wonderful river.
What Muddy Waters. Always like that ?
Depends on the time of year and how much it is raining throughout the canyon. But it is very common.
Strange to go into the little bit of quiet places we have left and bring your light show etc. See it on the middle fork now. Music blaring. Go pros and piles of all the shit Americans cant live without. Why not just buy a giant loud Malibu and roar around Redfish.
What set up did you use for filming rig and charging? It’s great!
Primary video cameras were GoPro Heros 8, 9,11. I used a MAXOAK Portable Power Station 500Wh AC50S to power a Canon R6 and the GoPro that took most of the footage. It lasted through until the last day of our 22 day trip so it was perfect. Over 5,000 stills and over 1,500 video clips. Most of the video was pretty short (15 seconds or less). The rapids had the longest segments.
What are class 7 and 8 rapids? I thought 5 were the most adventurous and then class 6 meant to portage around them.
You are correct but the GC is rated on a scale of 1-10. It's confusing to most and it needs updating for clarification. As a former GC guide, I personally think it's the outfitters that are just trying to hype the river more to make it more impressive. Not knocking the Canyon any, but there's bigger stuff in Cataract Canyon which you can find here on YT.
@@Michael65429 Interesting. Thanks for the info. I'd imagine it does involves some marketing. We portaged around a class 6 this weekend on the Payette and it was way gnarlier than what they are showing as a class 6. In my eyes, it should mean you are risking life, if you run it. .I.e. it's impassable, unless your are stupid and lucky, or professional and still lucky (rafts not kayaks). Seems like there would be some benefit to having a consistent system like they do in rock climbing routes or similar.
Western rivers use a scale to 10
@@oldboater Not any of the western rivers I’ve floated. Payette, Snake, Salmon, Lochsa, Yellowstone, Selway and Rogue. Must be a Colorado thing.
Super dialed! I love that Aire cataraft. Your group is safety oriented. Something my group lacked on my trip unfortunately
What beautiful Adventure 😱😅 and they love it 😀
Great Video Greetings from México.
Please don't use the "Class" terminology for the Grand Canyon. On the Canyon it's the Grand Canyon Scale. The "Class" scale is for virtually every other river, and only goes up to 6 (unrunnable). So when you say "Class 8" there is no such thing. Thank you.
Thanks for the feedback. I didn't know how to say it. I'll create an updated version using the right terminology.
@@bobmcgraw , I feel your terminology is fine and it speaks to the river you are rafting. If I'm not mistaken, not all rivers are rated using the International class system (1-6) that @rtennant is referencing, although most around the world do use this scale. The Grand Canyon stretch of the Colorado River is one of these exceptions along with a few other big-water Western rivers, where the rapids are classified on the 1-10 rating scale. e.
What an arrogant remark
Super cool
Epic music doesn't turn a wave train into a class 4.
Can the music dude!
Great video. Could you possibly post it without the music covering the sounds of the water/rapids?
Go with a jet boat it a lot of fun
what a wonderful tribute.
What was the flow?
Also wondering the flow
Whoever is filming had nice lines!
Great video.
great video. we are headed there next week. How/where is your go pro mounted to the boat?
I have a Hero8 with image stabilization. I was a rider so I just held it while sitting up front. Have a great trip!!!!
Beautiful stretch of road, but I will miss it.
That's amazing! It really looks like a lot of fun out there. Thanks for sharing!
